The University of Toronto Flight Endurance Team (UTFET) is a student
design team established in 2025 with the primary goal of
breaking the record for longest flight duration across all aircraft
categories and conditions. As a founding member of the team, I
assisted with goal definition, team setup, collaborative problem-solving,
and preliminary research. Wayfinder I is our first test-bed aircraft.
It gives us tangible results to show potential sponsors while also
enabling us to gain necessary experience with the design, manufacturing,
integration, and testing processes that will allow us to take on
more ambitious projects in the future. So far, I helped lead the fabrication
of the airframe, which is 3D-printed in PETG and reinforced with carbon-fibre spars.
UTFET initiated this project during the fall of 2025, and completed construction of
the first airframe design in the Summer of 2026.
